In a close by neighborhood to where I lived in one of the largest metropolises in NA, there was a 21 yo dude who's 'girlfriend' was 12 and they were together to some extent for quite a while. They skateboarded together, she was a tomboy.
People would talk, and I remember hearing about how he would fuck her in the ass and she didn't like that.
She eventually turned out to be a lesbian. She was actually a pretty cool girl and we were sort of acquainted through parties and school(she was a year older than me).
That might be one of the more extreme cases, but in terms of age relationships before social media, essentially anything went.
