I mostly use lacquer. I coped with acrylics for a while before I gave up. So much of a hassle to use. They are nice for doing small details though. As enamel gold doesn't seem to exist (Tamiya's enamel gold isn't actually enamel) I use Scale75 Viking Gold for all my fancy trims. Wipeable with window cleaner too if you make mistakes.
