Boys-Love Light Anime Label Balloon Launches with TV Anime in 2026

Publishing and anime production company IMAGICA Infos announced on Sunday it has joined with Dai Nippon Printing (DNP), CYBIRD, and Blue Rights to form the boys love label Balloon. The label's first project is a "light anime" adaptation of Tenma Asahi's Saioshi no Gikei Mederu Tame, Nagaikishimasu! (In Order to Love My Most Beloved Brother-In-Law, I'll Live a Long Life!) light novel series in production for a 2026 broadcast target. DNP and Imagica Info's Animation ID will handle production of the project.

DNP speaheaded the concept of "light anime" to create animation at a lower cost on a more "timely" schedule compared to the traditional animation production workflow. The Balloon label aim to produce four new titles in the 2026 fiscal year, with a goal of establishing a workflow capable of producing 10 or more projects a year by 2028.

The story of Saioshi no Gikei Mederutame, Nagaikishimasu! follows the struggle of a player to protect his favorite character, who gets reincarnated as his older brother-in-law in a simulation raising game - however, the player is reincarnated as the younger brother who was meant to die.

Well that's the issue here, I love mystery but you have to actually put some fucking effort into your mystery, otherwise all you come up with is pretentious nonsense. Hikaru has always given off the impression that it was way deeper and bigger than it actually is. Sure you want to convince yourself that it's intriguing, that it's dark, that there's an engaging mystery, but then you read it and it's plain boring and the writing is just garbage. The art style was the only thing it had going for it since the start, and it's the one thing that hooked people.

Meh, none of the summer anime were positively surprising so far. I have hopes in Re:Birth but the first episode wasn't as good and energetic as I expected it to be.

I didn't like mecha as a teen. Dunno it felt dry to me, just like political shows. I feel this way with books too. A book i loved as a child will often take a whole new meaning when i read it as an adult with more experiences and learned nuance.
In this case gcucks was batshit crazy but digestible enough for me to go "oh i like this. i can watch this and more like this" which then opens your mind up to other series.

Same here. I remember being bored by House of Five Leaves and dropping it and today I love Natsume Ono's stuff and wish there was more. Historical series in general went from "boring" to favorites for me. I think it's hard to appreciate historical settings as a kid since you lack the context for it. The more you know about a period the more interesting it gets to read a manga about that era. For me personally, I've watched mecha anime ever since I was a kid. I had an enormous crush on Roger Smith from Big O. So it's kinda hard for me to understand the apprehension from folks that didn't grow up with it.

Speaking of mecha and homo, I've checked out Black Blood since it was recently released via English publications and I won't have to deal with the stupid scanlation drama that came out of it. This one is a robot-fucking BL, which I think is a first , at least, in relation to English-translated non-doujin BL. Plus, this manga is by Hayate kuku, whom I have a favourable view of with regards to old-school BL mangakas.

The story is very unique for BL, even manga in general really. It takes place 1000 years in the future on a different planet that is not suitable for humans, yet humans are sent out there to research the "origin of species". It also has some interesting robot philosophies, and a non-specific war sprinkled in there. Now while all of this sounds really cool, the part that gets the most attention by far is the robot-human relationship between our two main leads in picrel. Unfortunately, the research about the "origin of species" feels inconclusive by the end of it personally. Regardless, the romance and sex was nice, and it definitely delivered on something I don't think I've seen before. So the mangaka focusing on this oddity was to be expected.

It's one of those stories that I wish wasn't a one volume (albeit an atypically long volume) story. There's so many interesting ideas that I'm still captivated by, yet I feel like it didn't utilise it enough. Hopefully, there would be a story-focused sequel to it, since I enjoyed it immensely even with the downsides. So I highly recommend it.

Anons, I'm falling deeper to the danmei-hell. Just finished book 5 of Tgcf and now I have to wait like couple weeks to receive rest from the local library. It's so comfy in a weird way despite the dark undertones. The good side is that since I work the summer there and do music related stuff there occasionally, they immeaditely approved my danmei-wishes and even put extra there. I have like 17 reservations now. I haven't felt this kind of childish joy in ages. I'm ought to savour these books by reading actual literature at the side. This has really helped me for my insomnia and I spend so much less time on screens and I've ditches social media too. Boys love truly is a healing force.

Anyway some years later I started doing scanlation and that forced me to learn how to buy raws, and where you go to find second-hand doujins and ancient back issues of magazines and things like that.
