Chief director and writer for this is actually the director/writer of the Gintama live action movies. I always wanted the early Gintama anime staff working on the Keroro anime and this is pretty close. Rather than adapting the manga directly, the movie took a lot of stuff from the anime.

In the official site, the Chief Director talks about how he loved the parody stuff in Keroro and is really excited to be able to do it himself here. Also mentions the movie will have many surprising guest voice actors (probably for parody/cameo stuff considering the rest of his comment).

Ah, I see. I'm just a little bit disappointed because back when they anounced a new animated project, I expected a new anime. But a new movie is fine too. Which reminds that I still need to watch Movie 5.
