I'm 85% confident he'll be back sooner or later, but the more the tournament went on, the more certain I was that he'd be the one to die instead of Frey. So I'm going to enjoy Frey as the MC while it lasts.

I wouldn't mind God bringing him back evil, though. Maybe he'd even outlive God and become the final boss, since the first "big" villain in a Mashima story is hardly ever the last one fought. It would be a nice reflection of EZ where the final boss was the heroine from the future.
