That's because it relied on cameos, plot-twist, and fancy buzzwords. Once you learn what those things are the show has low rewatch value.
Evangelion and FLCL also relied on mumbo jumbo but also was entertaining by itself. GQuuX doesn't have the traditional elements of storytelling people rewatch shows for. There's no examples of the protagonist overcoming adversity or doing cool/clutch shit.

Nyaan did, but her story is about a single episode's worth of content total, including her half-episode. If Nyaan was the main protagonist and got the development to suit, and Machu was the enkou JK turned prostitute acquaintance secondary protagonist instead, the show would have been slightly less bad.

It really depends on if that lack of buzz is as true in Japan as it is on the western side of things. Certainly seems like the ending was controversial, there, though.

Only thing I learned from this series was that my childhood hero directors Hideaki Anno and Kazuya Tsurumaki were hacks. Quuacks was such a mess I now question if these guys even know how to tell a story.

The show largely loses direction from episode 15 onwards and the only things holding it together are the remnants of the plot established in the Prologue, aka what existed since the start that survived the shakeups between S1 and S2.

Still, I don't regret watching it and would rate it above most entries that have come out after Turn A. But it had the potential to be better than it became by the end. I can't say the same for GQX.

One thing I didn't like about Turn A was it always felt like the beast was never let loose and it felt impotent. The one time Loran lets loose he destroys 3 Wodoms and a few WaDs before backtracking and using peaceful tactics because he didn't want to be Guin's tool. Yeah, coming of age story about a young girl who falls in love with a mysterious stranger trying to find her place in the world sounds great, not so much when you spend the majority of the show cramming in references and 79 characters to the detriment of your actual main characters, like I said, execution, you can easily make a show with the premise of gqux good, but spending this much time jerking over challia bull and kycilia is anti-Tomino
