The weaknesses show up from S2 when they throw out much of what they built up in S1 in order to fanwank Guel and Jeturk House to the detriment of the series overall.
The overly blatant character sidelining in S2 became a meme in itself.
A similar problem to GQX of characters existing just to either exposition dump or otherwise move the plot and die starts happening with S2.
The show largely loses direction from episode 15 onwards and the only things holding it together are the remnants of the plot established in the Prologue, aka what existed since the start that survived the shakeups between S1 and S2.

Still, I don't regret watching it and would rate it above most entries that have come out after Turn A. But it had the potential to be better than it became by the end. I can't say the same for GQX.

One thing I didn't like about Turn A was it always felt like the beast was never let loose and it felt impotent. The one time Loran lets loose he destroys 3 Wodoms and a few WaDs before backtracking and using peaceful tactics because he didn't want to be Guin's tool. Even in space it always felt like Loran was piloting with two hands tied behind his back. It's not even an issue of skill, he was teleporting at that point.

i liked gqux a lot
been into gundam since 2011 my favorites are turn a, zeta and victory but this is high up there, it was entertaining but i think 1 cour is the cancer plaguing gundam right now
i didn't like witch at all and i thought ibo was entertaining for a while but they got 2 seasons, hope this one gets it too

Yeah, coming of age story about a young girl who falls in love with a mysterious stranger trying to find her place in the world sounds great, not so much when you spend the majority of the show cramming in references and 79 characters to the detriment of your actual main characters, like I said, execution, you can easily make a show with the premise of gqux good, but spending this much time jerking over challia bull and kycilia is anti-Tomino
