Just watched this. I didn't expect anything going into this, the premise sounded iffy and also

but sasuga Cygames I guess, this was very enjoyable. I hope the fact that they are streamers is irrelevant past this setup episode, other than giving the participants a reason to each be skilled at a particular thing. At the very least I hope it doesn't end up with them chasing likes and subs, but from the first episode I'm hopeful that won't happen.

It's pretty serious though, even if they make it milder by not having anyone die and presumably reverting the madness by the end of the show. The show tells from the very first second that the fate of the whole planet is at stake, and Nyarlathotep definitely means business. Whether the other ones are actual Old Ones or Outer Gods, or it's all just a part of Nyarlathotep's usual causing chaos routine is yet to be seen though. Tick-Tock Man being hosted in a giant supercomputer is very on-brand at least.

The shows are way too different. I love Nyaruko for the tokusatsu and robot parodies, but otherwise it's kind of an ordinary "something as girls" thing with decent comedy. This one has an insane set-up and has a somewhat more serious tone, despite everything, but we'll have to see how it actually turns out, too early to tell.

There's honestly not all that much to know, there are some ancient cosmic beings, just looking at them drives you insane, most of them don't really do much of relevance to humans - except for Nyarlathotep who likes to cause chaos and particularly on Earth. There are cults on Earth that research and/or worship these beings, and the book Necronomicon written by a mad Arab that supposedly has a lot of secret information on these beings, including a way to summon them. The rest of the lore rarely gets featured much in the fan works.

Any time I see a Cthulhu series, I weep at what we could have gotten had it not been because of a world-wide pandemic.

Anyway I watched the episode and I liked it, gotta love these kinds of shows where the characters are playing a deadly game for the enjoyment of the evil old gods. Mirai Nikki, Cabin in the Woods, probably Takamine-san as well we'll learn in a final arc reveal, all bangers
