The adaptation was not the trainwreck we were expecting, but it didnt capture the cuteness of feMC. Other than that, I dont know how good would it be a second movie,. given that the lore of the manga was... lets say... colorful. U rad the first manga only to find myself cockblocked, and then read some volumes of final order, and it got super weird, I haigly doubt that this material worths an adaptation. Sad but true

This anon is doing a poor job of it, but GitS absolutely exists in the realm of "wider anime watchers hold it up as the pinnacle of the medium" both because of the movie but also along side other stuff that aired on that era of Toonami like Cowboy Bebop.

And this is fine, the movie and SAC are good. But what this anon is subtly grasping at is the manga is a very, very different kind of story and if the new anime hews at all closely to its tone and especially its dry ass nonsensical metaphysical lectures, people used to the more emotional or intriguing cyberpunk thriller aspects are gonna be in for a bad time.

The key is there's a whole audience of people much less cultured than /a/ that will be super weirded out if they actually have to deal with the original manga's writing.
