Aoi episode. She a cute. I want to put her in a dress.

Summary: Aoi and her band are in the recording studio when it comes down that they are in the next rock festival. At the shop the girls are inspecting Ciels powerup charm when Aoi bursts in with the news and how her idol is going to be there. At Festival the band is gathering themselves as it turns out Aoi's family is covering everything; its a little disappointing for Aoi to not be a regular band. That's when Misaki(Aoi's idol) walks by and Aoi goes full screaching fangirl mode. Turns out it was Misaki that invited her, but not why. After going about their ways Aoi and everyone finds out they'd be sharing stage time with Misaki; 2 sepperate stages, but same time and Misaki is a giant compared to Aoi's band. Aoi vows to fight on even if there isn't going to be less, and then the time came and there's less than no one. Aoi powers through it, but slowly breaks as she watches people leave. Afterwards the band suggests not seeing it as a competition, but Aoi is so shattered she runs away. Back at the shop the girls know Aoi is upset and they start trying to figure out how to cheer her up, but Aoi is listening. Aoi tries to put on a brave face and make some gelatin treats, but Aoi can't holds it and runs out crying. Up on a lonely hill Aoi cries to herself when Ellsio arives to give her The Face. By the time the girls get to Aoi, Gelato is there and Ellsio sends her off to destroy the festival. Gelato makes a scene scaring everyone away as she starts to attack, but the other Cures appear before too much is destroyed. Ellsio pulls out the MoTW to distract the cures, and Whip pleads with Gelato to remember her love for music. It takes a little reasoning in her mind, but Gelato returns to herself and the cures come together to beat down the MoTW. Gelato mocks Ellsio, which leads to the whale gelatin treats that Aoi presents to Misaki for the chance. COOKING DECORATION! GUMMY WHALES!

I don't know what the rock music scene is like in Japan, but its very jarring watching this and knowing the punk/rock scene here. I can see why Aoi is such an out there character when she wants to get into rock scene and she's driving in on a limo. But having that thought, it really makes the concert even more devastating. "Only the usuals were there." I wasn't expecting the writers to really make her band sound so bad that no one took an interest in her band.

I don't have much to say about this episode, but i have a few things to say about yestersay's episode. Yes, i know that being too late is cringe and gay and i hate that, but still:
I didn't buy Ciel's so-called "growth" in this episode, especially since she was never a bitch to anyone except for Pikario (which was already a weird moment), which's why i believe that it wouldn't have been any different if you replaced her with someone else like Ichika since, just like episode 24, i didn't feel like Ciel has learned much at the end of the episode. it just comes across as on-the-nose as a result.

Likewise, invading other people's personal boundries isn't my idea of caring about others, like i know Ciel's heart is in the right place, but this kind of behavior can do more harm than good, and it's baffling to me that a series like Precure doesn't acknowledge something like this.

Other than that, I feel like Bibury didn't get enough screentime in this episode, and her interactions with Ciel were quite lacking and a bit annoying, and i hated how the girls (yet again) weren't involved in something they could help with.

I have no idea what she lost. Could be her hope (possible, but maybe a touch of a reach), could be her feeling of belonging, if I want to try and strawman, but I have no idea. She didn't screw over Uta though. Purirun losing her memories was Purirun's own choice, and Meroron never tried to isolate Purirun from Uta after the fact, she was trying to protect the both of them from the inevitable pain and fallout (as we saw unfold) from Uta meeting Purirun without her memories, and was improvising the whole time. She's even been putting Uta's best interests before herself almost the whole time, so she definitely didn't screw over Uta. And if this is about Purirun dropping the Kirakilight, Meroron wasn't so much responsible as much as the unintentional trigger of a Butterfly effect of sorts. She never meant for Purirun to lose the light.
And Meroron just deserves a hug because she's hurting a lot and still holding strong and putting others before herself for the most part. Even with the rivalry, it's clearly a non-hostile thing (considerate) and just a way of trying to hold on to all she has left, and it's the same of what she's doing with the cooking contest. Even if it meant losing everything, she'd put everybody else first, and I think she just deserves a big hug for everything she's enduring on her own, as she clearly doesn't want to bother others with how she's feeling (in terms of her pain and frustrations). She's the most selfless character in the show.

Yeah, I think once it comes time to focus on her sacrifice and her origins, it's probably all going to unravel for her. She's clearly starting to unravel at the seams a bit, so at least this episode is enough to stall that out so we can take a break from that to give the rest of the cast, especially Nana, some attention this month.
That said, gotta love how she poured all her heart into her cooking this episode and she made something truly incredible for Purirun. I like that they subverted my expectations of it being a disaster.

Yes, but it's one thing when you sacrifice a part of yourself for the sake of your wish, as opposed to when someone else sacrifices a part of themselves for the sake of your own wish. I'd be pretty dang honored, but also honestly pretty saddened that that person effectively cut out a part of themselves to fulfill my wish, but I'd also probably value that person way more for it, because I'd know that they dang well treasure me to go that far.

The character that most comes to mind that's somewhat similar to Kaito in execution is Kanata from GoPri, but his sister ended up being the midseason so his interactions weren't completely focused on the lead. Even FujiPi ended up being Honoka's childhood friend, and FujiPi 2.0 was Mai's older brother, so they aren't associated only with the lead despite being characters whose role was only to be the one-sided love interest for the lead. If he were a villain that focused solely on the lead because she were the designated rival, that's not particularly unusual, but recurring side character that's zeroing in mostly on the lead is pretty uncommon for the franchise. Most of them would be the Cure's relatives, which is understandable, but Kaito has no such excuse.
