It's really a mostly feelgood manga. The premise (opposing schools) is also underutilized and the taboo for the girl is nearly nonexistent. There's no real stakes or drama.

RHOP had 2 or 3 errors in it, but are otherwise very impressive, I watched while also listening to the Japanese and they were much better than your average official translation. The reason it's voted number 1 is because not only is it objectively excellent, but it casts a very wide net regarding appeal. It has action for the shonenfags. It has very cute girls for the moefags. It has SoL elements for the comfyfags. It has "deep, introspective" themes for the deepfags. It covers all the bases. There's something to like for everyone in it.
Its content, which is sourced from the manga, may or may not be your cup of tea overall. But, production-wise, it's absolutely top-notch - a top-tier studio at the very top of their game.

The AI subs are okay even though it has few obvious errors. This chapter is easy because there's barely any dialogue, it's all new and fresh information without any context and it's 2 people talking.
It's going to get a lot more complicated. There will be 6 different characters apologizing simultaneously, calling each other good natured and referring to dumb small events from the past, so it's bound to fuck up a lot more.

Honestly, I would fucking kill myself before using AI subs for something that will eventually get official subs. Worse than Cam rips and streaming.

It's amazing how streaming services have successfully killed the vast majority of fansubbers. The fact that the teams working in the mines in the late '90s and 2000s are now in their 40s also didn't help. Now, we are entering the AI era, which to me symbolizes the final nail in the coffin for traditional fansubbing. The fact that releases often either copy text directly from the manga or blindly rely on AI is grim. In Japanese, context is everything. You can't just blindly copy the script into ChatGPT and expect good results.

You need to provide a whole script at once to get a good result. Good AI subs are possible by providing context. It’s the same as for human translators. If you take some lines out of context, the translation will never be good.
Also, the Kay for making subs consistent through whole season (or multiple seasons) is to feed AI with context from previous episode. GPT has context window too narrow to make it work properly.
