You guys get why Midnight was killed, right? It’s not because Hori hates her or has a thing against women. It’s because cowardice is the main guiding principal for Hori’s writing. It’s the a war arc. He was building up a narrative of “consequences” where the cast won’t come out unscathed. The problem is, as usual, there were no consequences for the heroes. But Hori needed a reason for the protagonists to be sad. A hero had to die. But remember, cowardice; it can’t be a main protagonist or anyone connected to them, so it can’t be a student. However it also can’t be a hero no one cares about, the death has to have some sort of meaning to the readers. So Hori thought about it and decided it had to be Midnight. Why? She’s attractive and has appeared some in the narrative and has some positive consideration by readers, but she’s also unimportant so her death can be moved on from quickly. So she was killed. Even though he decided to kill her, he was still too much of a coward to do it on-panel.
