It's easy to think it's gonna be the new finisher song, just like the last ED was. But I really don't see that. It doesn't seem appropriate.

It was just a normal episode compared to the last few ones, but I loved it a lot. I like how they are saving the idol activities episode for next week instead of making it the first breather episode. It's more relaxing that the episode focused on something as seemingly random as cooking instead. Maybe that's just because I'm not really an idolfag though.

Food wars tier is definitely an exaggeration, but Nana and Meroron's reactions were very funny. It's been a while since Meroron broke out into poetry, so I was happy to hear her do that.
On a side note, Nana's really, really into Meroron. This was probably always the case, but it's a bit more clear that Nana was supporting Purirun/Meroron more for the sake of seeing Meroron be cute and happy as opposed to being all that into romance like Mayu. I hope the Nana episode has more Nana gushing over Meroron moments.

Kirakira Precure A La Review 28!

Cute Himaries are being Cute. Pleasant episode with many Himari heart tongues.

Summary for the anons that need it: The shop is running swimmingly as an old man quietly consumes his desserts. In the back Ichika, Himari, and Aoi are going at it making sponge cake, while Ciel reads reviews for the shop. The point out how Himari always hides from the photos. Akira comes back and drops a note from the old man tucked into the dishes. The note is all about cooking sugars. Himari gets excited when the old man pops into the kitchen asking if Himari recognizes him; her idol Tachibana Yuu. Tachibana is there looking for a cooking assistant and thinks Himari is it. After a test that Himari passes with flying colors, he invites her to assist in the show. Baffled and scared she'd be out front, Tachibana asks her the most important part of cooking; Himari doesn't know. Next day the time for Assistant Himari is here, and she is nerves down to the bone; much to Yukari's glee. Tachibana is making a giant ass sponge cake. They start with the egg bath and Himari monitors the heat as Tachibana does his best Alton Brown impression. Finally Himari freaks out and the bath is removed to save the eggs. Himari does better mixing, and starts getting brave suggesting cooking lengths. Once the cake is done it fails. Himari starts blaming herself, but Tachibana denies the consession and explains the most important thing: Follow your heart, which is why the giant sponge cake made it so far. Turns out the cake is so full of Kirakira Graves springs up to steal it. The monster is hard, but Custard is super confident and pulls everyone together to super combo the MoTW. As Tachibana wakes up, he is baffled to see all the girls working to turn the sponge cake into cake-pops. COOKING DECORATION: BABY BIRD CAKE-POPS.

I found it hard to rank the Cures during the amnesia arc due to Purirun being... well, not all there. I feel like ranking them now that things have stabilized more.
1. Cure Kiss - More loving towards Purirun than selfish... though still pretty damn selfish in her desire to be number one in Purirun's eyes and hysterically stubborn in her selfishness, what an interesting character. I do feel like the show does need to address her obsessiveness head on at some point, but I don't mind the show stalling the issue and leaving the character dynamics at a ... somewhat stable state. How long will Purirun be able to keep her villainous inclinations at bay by simply caring for her as a friend? Anyways, 10/10 Cure.
2. Cure Idol - I like the lead a lot. I'd say that she reminds me the most of Love though I'd say Love has more cool moments while Uta has more heartwarming moments (and is also a bit dumber, not that Love was that smart). I'd say that I like Uta slightly more than Love.
3. Cure Zukyoon - A bit of an odd character since she seems to switch back and forth between "oblivious airheaded idiot" and "caring older sister", she's still a ton of fun. Thank goodness she's back to normal and her and Uta can go back to being intimate. 2 double handclaps this episode? How lewd.
4. Cure Kyunkyun - She's always a ton of fun whenever she contributes more to a scene than just her catchphrase (though I can't hate her catchphrase). I wasn't expecting her Idol and Wink love to manifest into sincere arguing with Meroron. I'm not really sure what the show has in store for her after that emotional Mother's day episode, but I'm still excited for the next Kokoro episode, whenever that comes.
7. Cure Wink - She's just in the background most of the time, but I do find the moments where she does take the spotlight fun, like in this last episode where she was fawning all over Meroron. I love her a lot, but I can't help but rank her last. I'm still excited for her upcoming episode nevertheless.

Meroronbros huddle up, team meeting time. Episode 22 was literally the best case scenario for her:
1. First and most importantly there was no character assassination. She didn't need to tone down her personality, or give up her love for Purirun or some nonsense like that. Meroronhaters got BTFO.
2. Some nice acknowledgement and attention from Purirun/Zukyoon as her partner. A good step in regards to their relationship, with more almost certainly to come in the future.
3. She managed to maintain big story relevance for the future in regards to her sacrifice and other stuff. We don't have to worry about her getting Nana'd and forgotten about.
All in all, a damn good day at the office for the best Precure fairy ever. She got away with everything.

I do agree that the show has been downplaying something about Kaito, but I personally think what the show is downplaying is the notion is that he's suffering from a lost love or has an ex. He's associated with a love song, and it did seem like he was hiding something when Uta asked him if he was in love with someone in an earlier episode.

I have a schizo theory that Purirun's amensia was supposed to play out different, but they rewrote the story fairly late into production. This episode was very obvious filler, and the next one seems like it's gonna be the same. Idol never had anything like this before. I think these two episodes were supposed to still be about Purirun's memory, but Toei decided that the story was either too heavy or too long (or both), and cut it short ahead of time, so the writing staff had to come up with "inconsequential bullshit" storylines like cooking and autographs.
