Because they had this one gimmick and bam author wrote themselves into a corner they quickly devolved into cheap fast food type shlock. Nobody even cared how they would end and most of them never did end either or ended in a way that was awful.

But then came the light of civilization so to say. Came MT which was like the Roman Empire civilizing all the barbarian savages. It opened the gate. It opened the way.
