Speaking solely about MHA (because I've seen what seizure inducing One Piece has been bringing to the table), I think this kind of stuff works perfectly fine when used in short bursts and with restraint.

It's the fucking movies where it has gone to such an extreme as to become comical rather than impressive, or even borderline disgusting to look at. There was this super extended scene of Deku doing a barrage of punches that switched from slow motion to speeding up and it just looked silly, but the latest movie clearly takes the cake with a fucking hilarious sequence of Deku kicking in the air, similar tot he previous punch barrage, but now the camera is going crazy around it and it's like he's floating in a smear of 3D assets on top of it.

Come to think of it, it feels like awfulness is centered around One for All to depict its power level.

Since we're in the topic, I'd like to mention Demon Slayer and Madhouse.

Not because what they do looks bad. Far from it, they're probably some the mos consistent in making consistent animation that actually succeeds in mixing 2D and 3D where so many other fail. They might overuse effects but that hardly takes away from the rest. No, what irks me about their animation is how fucking pretentious they've gotten in their success, or rather, how much they're squeezing out of every second of their cash cow.

Those obnoxiously extended intro sequences or establishing shots have gotten actually grating, and it gets worse and worse with every new season they release. Yes. Muzan walking into the scene is pretty cool and ominous with that music and it looks beautiful, that doesn't mean I need 10+ MINUTES of him slowly walking through a garden with annoying slowmo left and right using loud sound effects for impact, or the camera needing double digit angle changes. That wasn't impressive Madhouse, that was a fucking circus. This is what I would have expected from a parody mocking a similar sequence of half the length.

ANd we're getting what, THREE movies more of this? Out of a final arc that is nearly nonstop fighting?

I’ve generally been very disappointed in the direction animation in action anime has gone. It seems like nowadays all action scenes are weapons specifically designed to kill people with epilepsy. I don't even like Naruto but sometimes I think back to that Obito vs Kakashi fight and think, “damn, remember choreography?” Its why that sukana vs Mahoraga fight getting so much praise pissed me off. It was a bunch of shit going on but it was so hard to follow, it felt careless.
