There’s just more passion for this kind of project. I think the reality is that animators, directors and otaku probably don’t care that much about something as old as Fist of The North Star. And companies aren’t willing to give it much budget, thinking it’s not worth it.

Modern animators don't know how to draw men, it's that simple. Maybe fujos do, but that's it.
It's a gradual degradation. First animals, horces and so on, then cars, than robots.
At this point the only thing they capable of drawing without cg are cute girls. Like that moe-guy from bakuman.
Why that so? Maybe cause all of them are gooners with no hobby.

"MANime" fans don't tend to really give a shit about anime as a medium compared to people who have a broader interest in it or people who have really niche interests they are passionate about. I think that same phenomenon applies to animators as well.
You have guys fighting over which cuts of animation they get to do for the loli scenes in studio bind's anime productions. Studio bind also calls in international animators who are known for being the best at animating boobs to do certain boob scenes. Meanwhile Toei needs to outsource all sorts of shit to SEAmonkey sweatshops in order to be able to produce garbage like Dragon Ball.
