Yeah this has been pretty good so far. Material-wise, I can see how this can go for 24 episodes already, I just hope it remains as good animation and color wise all the way throughout. I liked a couple of parts when Niikura and Nagumo were talking. From when Niikura said Yes! Me! in English proudly, to Nagumo's eyes becoming slot machines and hitting zero when she loses interest, and how Niikura caught the magazine. I also liked Nagumo leading the conversation about doing something you like on like she doesn't have one, but then her saying her did casually and Niikura getting caught off guard by it is both a sudden tone lessener and a natural reaction while being emphasized by having her head getting giant and the deeper voice shift.

I like the song but I also did think the choices of what to show in the OP were weird. Everything up to the logo is fine but afterwards it's bizarre what they deceide to focus on. The still frame of the umbrellas, the small things on the ground, the 2 birds, the letter scene just being there. And then goes through stills of only some of the characters and ends on them skipping to the beat in front of a still, lineless more painted version of the rest of the city members. I'm honestly not sure exactly what they were trying to evoke throughout multiple parts.
I do think it would have done better to have a higher energy, more animated OP, not it has to be as wacky as Nichijou's, but closer to the last trailer pv, there the song even fit with a lot of the more crazy things going on in the scenes when it kicks in. They showed some quieter sides of the city but they should have more day to day with even more of the characters doing actively doing things I feel.

Yeah, it's quite nice. The use of the bright colors and limited shading go a long way to make the anime pop out while still being cognizant of making it look readable. That's not to mention choices like the green fading into the blue like you stated.

The thing that fucks me up in the head is that this is a very intensive show in terms of digital composition, but it doesn't feel like it in the slightest. Also, the line work is just so pure that even the limited shading is pencilled in. The colors are genuinely amazing, the show manages to be vibrant without being overbearing. Stunning visual work all around. I kinda wish the OP/ED were better, but that is a minor complaint. You just know this is going to be a special show.

Just watched it and this is the best anime in years. I've not felt so comfy in such a long time.

really enjoyed the first episode, its definitely not what I expected, I feel like nichijou had way more comedy where this was just a more slice of life/comfortable mood anime. that is not to say I didn't enjoy it however. I wish the OP was more energetic it did not quite grab me either, but other than that I am looking forward to the next episode.

I think it's pretty cute and fun. The animation is incredible which is no real surprise, the art style is also really unique. The thick bold outlines plus the bright colours really makes the show pop, it feels like a children's book, with every object competing in colour for eye attention. That said it's surprisingly not hard to look at, so they somehow made it work.
