There are not that many adventure anime that spend so much time on comfy slice of life stuff. It gives the whole thing a great atmosphere and pacing. I also love the art style and music. It´s simple but classic and effective. It´s pretty good at the very least.

Anime made for middle aged people that started with anime on Toonami.

I had never seen a show focus on a creature that lives a long time in a fantasy setting. You get a good sense of Frieren's mentality, her apathy, the explanation that elves have a low sex drive struck me as good writing because no way they'd fuck like bunnies if they can live thousands of years; they'd be a blackhole of resources. And I liked the music, art and premise.
