Almost every ship is a weak poor ship. Ichiruki has the advantage of having more content and more thought put into it, but Kubo didn't want them to be lovers. Ichihime has the one-sided love the entire manga run, but it's just exactly that, a one-sided love. Renruki is barely mentioned because of ham-fisted it was, people don't take it seriously which is why the Ichihime fan content has gone up but the Renruki fan content has stayed dead. People excuse the poor romance with "B-BUT BLEACH ISN'T A ROMANCE SO ITS NOT IMPORTANT" but Kubo was the one who decided to end the series with a married ships despite one being one-sided or in the case of Renruki zero-sided. He should have added real emotionally-charged moments for Renruki after the SS arc, especially since they had the perk of growing up together, but he screwed it up, she didn't even think of him while fighting As Nodt which is unacceptable. The oldman in Ichigo is his quincy powers, that's what he has been using nearly all the time in the series. He doesn't use a bow but he's just a quincy with a high quincy powerlevel and a huge quincy sword wearing quincy shadows all emulating a shinigami because he thinks he's just a shinigami, but nope, he's a quincy with shinigami powers, and this shinigami power is the monochrome guy he has been rejecting all the series.

Kubo didn't want confirm any pairings at that moment of the story. She said that Bleach readers, herself included, wouldn't be satisfied if she is the one who writes it instead of Kubo. She was right because I don't want to see that written by other person than Kubo, precisely because I like the way that Kubo does the romance.
But, frankly, I don't care much to see the confession and the proposal, what I really would like is to see more of Renji and Rukia at the academy or before, when their feelings for each other started. A chapter about that and another one about Ichigo and Orihime starting dating, or before, would great, a kind of chapters 0-sideA and 0-sideB, (although this time would be, for example, chapter -15 or -18, and chapter 687 or 690).

Hollows can create things to seal their power in. It's well established.
