Neither of those involve Okarun having a rough patch with her. In Space Globalists they both get attacked, not because Momo "leaves somewhere," and she doesn't get saved, she saves herself. He's the one who needs saving. Also, he's only "unable to communicate his feelings" inasmuch as it's a romance story and it hadn't reached the all important confession point yet. Hell, he communicates his feelings to Vamola right before he gets attacked.

It's a romance. If you're complaining about the romance not being culminated right away, you might as well complain that an action movie doesn't have the good guys defeat the bad guys in act 1. Some things go beyond formula and are the basic structures of the story.
