The biggest problem here is that the series has consistently followed the themes of inherited wills unbound by blood connections.
Dragon is Garps son but he became a revolutionary
Luffy is dragons son but he became a pirate embodying Rogers will, while Sabo is the one to inherit dragons will as his adopted son.
In turn Ace didn't inherit his father's, Roger's will but Whitebeard's, his own adopted father.
With Garps will also being inherited by Koby, who is also Garps adopted son in a way.
The whole series has consistently shown us sons that took their own path and didn't follow their fathers footsteps.
Buggy being Xebecs son but BB inheriting his will would have been much more fitting.

I don't think being Rubber made it clear that Luffy had the Nika fruit, there are millions of islands and hundreds of DFs, it's entirely possible some are not documented. I doubt the previous Nika was using G2-G4, even the old guy in Wano didn't make the connection until Luffy went G4.

I would say the Hidden Mist arc is way better than the east blue arc also. Chunin exams edges out alabasta a bit in quality also. Marineford was a bit better than the pain arc and one piece did a much better job of pacing itself after that, while the ninja war arc became this big fucking disaster.

Zabuzas arc was Naruto at its best. Which is funny considering its the first major arc. Nothing topped it for the whole runtime. One piece has several arcs that can be argued are the best. Where as naruto only has on good arc. Also being carried by lore means it has good world building and storytelling. Naruto had its fights but thats about it.

Its because the war is supossed to be a culmination of everything in the series like how wano was the culmination of several arcs. But they chose to turn it into a therapy session for everyone by bringing their loved ones back to life. It would be like if one piece just brought Roger/whitebeard/rocks/ace back to life in the final arc. It felt forced and weird that we now suddenly had the shinobi gods fighting when it was supposed to be the shinobi alliance vs akatsuki.

Nah, it was different, the war allowed us a chance to actually see the legends of the past display their abilities in real time.
