What constitutes an anime/manga for you? For me, only these two things are required
>the art style has to look "anime"
>the writer is Japanese
The nationality of the artist/composer/voice actor etc doesn't matter. So yeah, something like Edgerunners is not anime. I still enjoyed it a lot though.

I have no idea what you're saying since it both looks like anime, and is written by Japanese.

Anime is Japanese animation and manga is Japanese comics. What exactly counts as Japanese can get a little fuzzy at times, but there's no reason to get so ridiculously exclusive about something that's so fundamentally vast and non-specific in the first place.

My requirements for something to be anime is not "ridiculously exclusive" at all, in fact I'd say it's very loose. Some people get triggered if they see a non Japanese animator.

>the art style has to look "anime"
You make it sound like anime is this singular look, when really there's like a million different anime artstyles out there.
Artstyles as varied as Crayon Shinchan, Princess Mononoke, Inferno Cop, Vampire Hunter D, Hidamari Sketch, Ping Pong, Tatami Galaxy and Honey and Clover are all anime artstyles.

I never said that, yes anime art style is very diverse but you just know when something looks "anime". PSG for example despite trying hard to look like an American cartoon, still looks "anime". I can't really describe it.

Easy
>manga
Original run published/serialized in a Japanese magazine
>Anime
Produced by a Japanese company to be broadcast/stream/sold in Japanese cinema/TV/on-demand service (home-video releases included)
You criteria are meaningless and out you as someone who has very little knowledge of anime, its history and the industry as a whole
>the art style has to look "anime"
is meaningless 'cause Japanese animation is wildly diverse in style and design and has been since the beginning (picrel); by this definition masterpieces of early anime like Kumo to Tulip, or the many Toei movies, and many more examples
>the writer is Japanese
The "writer" of what? The original subject? Then Mirai Shounen Conan cannot be anime 'cause it's an adaptation of an American novel, or the many World Masterpiece Theater series...
Hell, by this definition nothing that is based on Journey to the West is anime, 'cause is a Chinese story.
There's no difference between Edgerunners and, say, Heidi Girl of the Alps or Nadia: the Japanese take a foreign source and write their own version of what they read in it.
It would be like saying that Hamlet by Shakespeare is not an English play 'cause Hamlet is a Scandinavian folktale.

Edgerunners style looks unnatural, but maybe its my problem I don't like cyberpunk climates
I would prefere anime/manga based on The Witcher, far better polish book and game developed by the same company as Cyberpunk, but in their prime time.
