Why don't Japanese animators understand yet that if you are going to use cgi you have to make the models fluid and bendable? It's why it looks so terrible when compared to 2d, there is no versatility to a stiff 3d model, so you have to do things to compensate for the rigidity of cgi.

Alright, call me a full retard, a delusional drone, maybe I am. But I actually think CGI is not that bad of a thing.
In fact I think it allows for, and makes characters to be more expressive, especially the facial animations. When each frame of subtle movement is drawn in 2d, it would feel over-animated, you know, the "animators are trying so hard to animate, when there's so little to animate" or whatever that meme was. It feels like like characters are breathing and real, instead being of cardboard cut-outs with just the flip-flopping mouths.
Though, that's basically only thing that it's good at. It kind of looks good in motion and close-ups, but it absolutely can't produce good stills like >>280414843

It doesn't matter. Even if the series isn't as bad as most expect to be, the entire weeb community has PTSD towards CGi animation thanks to Berserk 2016. It will be just another overlooked show that everyone will avoid like the plague.

I only saw a few short clips but the only severe flaws that I noticed animation-wise are a few scenes where the hair length and ear shape are inconsistent, and to be honest I can totally see that sort of stuff being caused by human error in a regular weekly series

This looks like a really well done Pachinko animation...

OK so I watched the trailer and what little they showed of the Shin fight actually looked pretty badass. As for the rest, yeah it looks kinda goofy but if we're being honest Hokuto no Ken has always been a campy wuxia soap opera. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Nah Hokuto had plenty of camp especially early on. As the story fleshed out the tone became more consistently serious but even in Hokuto 2 Kenshiro would still drop a goofy one liner occasionally.

I would say it looks better than Berserk, where Berserk was just super lazy. They are going with a visual style in HnK that makes it pop out, but still looks pretty stiff in certain areas. I don't think the visual style is to blame, but really the idea of limiting the frames to match that of 2D animation, which I guess is because they show scenes that are done traditionally to match everything. A lot of video games will make the graphics of characters look like anime drawings, but can have very fluid motions that make them feel like they're almost real, and I'm referring to something like Uma Musume. Going for a more realistic design, it's amazing what video games were able to produce from over a decade ago like in pic related. There are CGI animation companies hired by publishers to do the cinematic cutscenes and renders that aren't ingame, and they look pretty amazing. I feel like if you're going to go for a CGI series, then fully go for it instead of tying to make it look like something it's not.
