I'm still enjoying the show, but this episode has two of my least favorite tropes. One is the antagonist group acting like complete caricatures, and the other is the boss explaining his entire plan to the main character (but really to the audience). Just the act of kidnapping and turning people into slaves makes them immediately unlikable; there's no need to have them laugh and lick their fingers like Saturday morning villains. There are also ways to show how full of himself their boss is without having him explain his business model to the prisoner because he thinks there's no way for them to escape.

The problem with Spider was that the anime went with the path of showing the past and future parts at the same time. It was meant to be a misleading bit where you think everything's happening at the same time only to find out when you finally see Shiraori in the modern time stuff and realize she's what Kumoko becomes.
The manga doesn't do that, it just focuses on Kumoko and her journey/transformation the whole way through. Which honestly is much more enjoyable cause I agree that the stuff with the other reincarnated people kinda dragged things down.

Here I don't think that'll happen. There'll be a lot of political machinations happening besides Klen and Alicia's stuff, but Klen will probably stay relevant and just build up a large force over time interjecting into these conflicts.
