Jump never recovered from the fallout of Dragon Ball and Slam Dunk, add Naruto ending into the equation and Jump are desperately looking for a new hit series that can keep them afloat. But also because of nepotism: Yuki Tabata has a lot of connection in the manga industry, namely working as the assistant for several mangaka like the Psyren creator, Kaiju No 8 and Beelzebub to name a few.
