I knew the scenes where Shimada rampages in the school felt really familiar. I've been reading the Gantz storytime and Oku basically stole the plotline. Down to the main character saving his love interest via an impossible leap to the ground from an upper floor and the monster taking serious damage from ordinary bullets from the cops responding to reports of a knife attack and being finished off by the protagonist.
