About as well as a generic can be treated. She has been in every game and has gotten some nice buffs along the way, from elemental boosting abilities to her own set of elemental sword skills.

Technically she has no role other than just being playable in game, though one could say her actions on the field are what lead the story to continue.

She has a somewhat tragic backstory doesn't know her family, has been an assassin for a secret society mafia organization ever since she was a kid but overall yes. She overcomes her past and makes friends doing so.

I think the "parents" in her family picture from the first episode are her actual parents, but they were coerced into giving in to the Soldats' demands after Mireille's parents were killed for trying to resist them.

This chapter cover art is one of my absolute favorites. I wish we got more of this outfit.... The most recent Aki chapter cover is amazing too....

I can't say she was mistreated, once the horny stuff gradually faded. But I do wish we got more chapters dedicated to her and her job, and just more insight into her life. I'm mostly just bellyaching, I just got a chapter to her last month...

A few. I got my confirmation that Aki frequented comiket and other doujin events in that last chapter I mentioned. Most of them are just extrapolating from canon material, like her being heavily into sci-fi. One big one I have is that she's big into foreign comics like capeshit and Franco- Belgian BDs. She went on a business trip to France in Movie 4, so she might speak it or be able to read too.

Yes and no. She does experience loneliness and hardship, a lot of it, but she shows strength and dignity in the face of it all. It would be implausible for her to avoid it entirely, given what the setting is like, but in its own depraved way, it is respectful.

Probably all of them, since I doubt anyone really thinks about her outside of a you-know-what context. But there are some visual details in the anime adaptation that don't get the praise they deserve, like one I've mentioned before about the color saturation in many of her scenes. Some are bright orange, some a light fuchsia, and the final scene where she confesses her feelings in a rare show of genuine emotion is a resplendent white.
I also think she's far more caring than she looks at first glance, since she makes sure to treat people kindly when her environment allows her to.

Her portrait art, it's where it all started, and I love how everything looks. Her sharp eyes, cute little nose, lips.

Well, she is a secondary character that punches above her weight, and admittedly her focus in the story is her own battle and not necessarily the main "plot". Still, I'm greedy and would like to see more of her like all the main lords get.
Her adult self barely appears in Heroes and other media. Makes sense as the academy period is the most popular part, and her brattier self is entertaining, but I still miss not seeing her wiser, confident self.
As for her backstory, it's very tragic but I feel it was done respectfully. I actually liked that they show that even though she's strong, sometimes it all gets to her, she won't just smile all the time.

Her birthday is stated to be February 28th, but it's actually the 29th and she lied so she could get yearly cake.

Of course I do. Nasu's writing and Takeuchi's designs are what made me fell in love with her. According to Nasu, their initial plans for her character were for her to be >pure in terms of appearance and personality. I've always felt that they respect her more than other type-moon characters and think of her as a perfect princess. Given that she is from a VN with branching paths and roles I consider her role in her route, from beginning to true end (only achieved after avoiding all bad ends) to be an amazing role. It's the reason I fell in love with her after all.

Hmm, that's hard since she was often discussed on old /a/ and /jp/, and I generally think anons were more creative back then- especially TM fags. One theory that surely others have considered before me but still I've never seen mentioned is that I'm sure her route was based on the tale of princess Kaguya from Japanese mythology. Both stories involve an immortal princess from the moon growing very close to a human but ultimately having to come to terms with the difference in their nature and tragically leave them.
