Great production and animation. Everything else like writing, story, characters, designs all garbage.

The 90s anime was better IMO, but this is one of the few non shit remakes, worst one would be Ranma's

The "mature anime for mature people like me" section is over there, dear sir.

>>280431575
I dunno. It depends on what one looks for in it, I suppose. If they want an easygoing, gag-filled fest and Kohei Tanaka, the 90s anime is a solid choice. The remake's choice of emphasizing plot and action over gags kinda suited the sakuga approach.

Also, inb4 it becomes more mainstream because picrel

But they are all really good

This is unironically the best shonen all year, mogging Dandadan, Kaiju and Solo Leveling. Seriously, the animation is completely on point, creative, high quality sakuga, the visual direction is really stylish. It's a real archetypical shonen, basically just Dragon Ball with the creative direction that Toei could never afford to give it. That being said, storyline wise it's basically a generic 90s shonen, there are a dozen other just like it and it will never be too memorable becase it's pretty generic story wise. The animation though, I do think that animation really mogs other modern shit. I wonder if Yaiba will become mainstream when the dub comes out in August, most shonen watchers watch dubs.

Honestly, I don't need the show to e reinventing the wheel or whatever. Most other shows that most other anime fans glaze over for "quality storytelling" tend to bore me or not give me a good time/feeling watching it. I don't care if it's the "best" story, will I have a good time watching it? Yaiba has been consistently giving me a good time since the first episode.

Something about the animation in this show is just ridiculously high quality, it's so fast paced you can't even really perceive it. especially in the openings but throughout the whole show really. WIT studio are gods and I hope the One Piece remake gets this kind of treatment with good consistency

iirc Aoyama was forced to end it even if he has no plans to, because the publishers were pressuring him to start on Conan already, so the ending was rather unsatisfactory?

more like forced to continue. the power scaling peaked at yamata no orochi arc. it should've ended there.

Yeah I’m eager to see what they do with that and the Ousama Ranking movie

I'm pretty sure it's more of Aoyama wanting to do something else with Yaiba outside of the magic swords thing, hence the introduction of Okita until the premature plug pulling.

it overstayed its welcome just like Eyeshield 21. the world cup arc didn't need to happen.

In any case, the opening scene of episode 1 made me wonder if their plan is for the TV series to be up until the Orochi arc and turn the tournament arc into a movie, TV special or ONA at least.

too rushed.
foreign teams aren't well developed.
japan is too OP.
X-Mas Bowl + university epilog would be the best ending. no need for that world cup shite.
