That's just translation to modern senses anon, its not a touch screen as much as its activated by the mana one sends into it. It makes sense, if natives know about stats they sure as hell would make some kind of Appraisal tool that can visualize it for people especially in High Fantasy settings. Its very useful in legal situations to see who's what. A king should have one in their castle the very least.

There's a few in the Slow Life genre that give the main character the ability to buy real world stuff from notAmazon using their bank account's starting wealth. Which is essentially them afterwards starting to sell those goods and making money that way back to natives like greedy merchants they are.

There's nothing wrong with being edgy MC (Kurono Kei from Gantz) or Golgo (oldest manga btw), Ichi the Killer (just fucked up in general series), Guts from berserk... The list goes on. So basically every axed and short battle-shounen.
I only count axed and short ones because the ones that go on for a long time and finish properly will eventually run into the issue that the eternal underdog MC will have to face a "talented" villain that is for once also a hard-worker (because surveys showed that even rabid fans are no longer buying that every villain is simply conveniently lazy and arrogant), so the MC can no longer make it about hard-work vs talent and has to compensate by finally activating his dormant secret ancient bloodline he had all along, which can be considered a cheat.
