DtB is a flawed mess comprised of frustratingly interesting elements so you're gonna have to get specific about which parts of it you want to re-experience in other shows. Otherwise, the short answer is: there isn't any anime equivalent to DtB, past or present.
If you're talking about the general vibes and the "beauty and the beast" element (i.e. stubby male x dainty female mc duo) then there are a number of animes you can look into

Some detective-ing. Crumbling society in a near-post-apocalyptic setting. May be too sci-fi, but it has the ugly mofo x cute girl thing down pat.
>Psycho Pass (esp, Sinners of the System Case 3)
Far more cyberpunk than DtB (in fact, it's just flat out cyberpunk). Case 3 has the added similarity of being centered around going to far-off lands for detective shenanigans.
>Lazarus
Very recent, very controversial overall. But I'd argue that it has the EXACT same atmosphere as DtB. The setting is near-future and grounded, the world is crumbling, and the characters are going to the ends of the earth to solve something. Be warned that the ending and the twist is objectively atrocious.
