If you start the character overpowered then what's the point? They won't learn anything, there will never be any real stakes.
The difference is ultimately in philosophy. "Boomer" shows believed in self-improvement. The message is ultimately that you can work hard, overcome, and make yourself better. Your shit basically boils down to divine right. MC is the strongest and smartest and most attractive. He was born this way, destined to be this way. If that's the case, there's no story. Everything is pre-determined, the only arc is every other character learning to be subservient to the MC or the MC defeating them if they don't. There's nothing there. Of course the OP self-insert protag will win. There won't be any interesting conflict. It's just an anodyne for pathetic losers to self-insert into.
