Nobody hates strong, overpowered, and useful characters. They hate perfect le "I'm the super duper most strongest guy who has every female character ovulating in my presence while defeat every enemy without a scratch" characters like your pic related and pretty much every shade of unapologetic self insert Gary stu characters that seem to just be a different flavor of kirito in SAO. It makes for boring stories where there's hardly any stakes when done wrong. One of the reasons people like(d) one punch man was because despite Saitama being overpowered, he's not perfect in others which allows plot to happen without the reader going "why doesn't he just go kill [BLANK]. Somehow korean shit is even more unapologetic about this stuff when it comes to blatant power fantasies

I agree that it can be boring when a character is so absurdly OP that the battle ends in a blink of an eye. I can still enjoy things like Kage Jitsu and Solo Leveling though. The action in Solo Leveling is badass, and you don't need stakes for awesome choreography like during the knight cut. Though A-1 did make the fight seem more close in the anime compared to the novel.

It's called a character arc you fucking Neanderthal. Real stories have these things called character arcs, where the character learns and grows through the experiences they have in the story. If you start the character overpowered then what's the point? They won't learn anything, there will never be any real stakes.

The difference is ultimately in philosophy. "Boomer" shows believed in self-improvement. The message is ultimately that you can work hard, overcome, and make yourself better. Your shit basically boils down to divine right. MC is the strongest and smartest and most attractive. He was born this way, destined to be this way. If that's the case, there's no story. Everything is pre-determined, the only arc is every other character learning to be subservient to the MC or the MC defeating them if they don't. There's nothing there. Of course the OP self-insert protag will win. There won't be any interesting conflict. It's just an anodyne for pathetic losers to self-insert into.

Stakes make a fight 10x better. If all SL has going for it is cool choreography I can just skip the show entirely and just watch clips of the fights on youtube.
