Why did Vinland Saga choose to opt for a preachy juvenile pacifism story instead of staying true to the Icelandic sagas and actual documented accounts of Erikson’s voyage to Vinland?

Thorfinn also defuses Canut's invasion because he's a supernaturallly gifted warrior who's able to take 100 punches from a seasoned viking which gets enough people's attention they let him talk to the king. Had he just been some guy who went down after 1-2 blows his pacifism would have come to nothing.

The pacifism message is ultimately undermined when the only reason Thorfinn can carry on with it is because when his back is against the wall he can reluctantly fight his way out of whatever bad situation he's in while also being skilled enough to overpower but not have to kill his opponent. This even got unintentionally highlighted in the recent chapters where Einar ends up having to kill a guy in combat. It's treated like he had a choice but he really didn't: either he killed the guy or got killed pointlessly himself, and the only reason Thorfinn "has a choice" in the multiple similar situations he's been in is because he knows non-lethal viking kung fu. It's a retarded double standard.

Because the author's a fucking moron and a terrible writer and the series should've ended after chapter 50. I read up until the native americans showed up and the author decided to break his own fucking rules by showing the native american guy getting high and magically predicting, you guessed it, nukes, made by "white men" (because he's a fucking moron and doesn't understand that jews and whites are two different groups of fucking people). But besides that you had great moments after chapter 50, like thorfinn somehow convincing a bunch of vikings with facts and logic amazingathiest style, or....I don't know man, I've never felt like I've wasted more time reading a fucking manga.
