No, it's true. Both the medium and the fandom died in unison at the end of the first decade of the new millennium. Anyone who was actually part of the fandom back then knows this for a fact. All life and soul was sucked out with the advent of anime viewing in the West being monetized by services like Crunchyroll and social media/smartphones giving access to fringe forums to hordes of mongrel people.
