It’s incredibly overrated but it’s not terrible. Not going to lie, the comedy bits were so unfunny and tension breaking that Without even looking it up I knew the author was female.

I wouldn't call it boring but it was certainly milquetoaste. Back when I was 18 and less experienced with anime and life in general I would call it the greatest anime ever made. It introduced me to the sheer possibility in storytelling that is possible with animation, going beyond cat chase mouse or guy fight guy. Rewatching at 25, it felt a bit generic and formulaic but in a good way since the execution was top notch. Still one of the better shows out there and some of the best music in any anime . 9/10
