It makes a lot of sense that the Austrians would storm the castle. I keep saying this, but sieges are miserable things for both sides. Even the attacker suffers. They spend all day performing tedious probing attacks to tie up defenders while disease can decimate encamped armies. Plus, loads of armies run out of food before the siege is won.
It's also an extremely nice detail that the trebuchet mechanism doesn't operate by cutting rope. That would be completely ahistorical. After all, if you cut rope every time you fire, you'd have to constantly be making new rope. Real trebuchets used hooks and pulleys to shoot. Though, they wouldn't say "Fire" when it was time to shoot. They'd say "Loose".
