I read enough magazines where love stories are like 8-12 chapters on average. It's an actual story, some shit happens, they realize their feelings half way through and then there's some conclusion or whatever, then a pause for like two issues because the artist is burnt out and then a new serialization by the same artist starts again and they get their moneys.
Alternatively, you could write something longer than is an actual story but it's clear these people have no ideas beyond

Also, the shit in many of those magazines is formulaic as fuck but at least it feels like a story with a beginning, middle and end.
