In Haibane Renmei, the clothing looked worn with real weight, folds and movement. like the characters were actually dressed, not just skinned in fabric like in modern anime. At the same time, there was a simple mistake: a door sign said "Close" instead of "Closed." (i forgot which episode). So, some random Japanese guy who barely spoke English said, “Let’s put ‘Close'. Didn't even bother to google it. and it somehow got approved.
That contradiction made me realize what’s wrong with modern anime. Back then, small teams worked passionately, ignoring minor errors but perfecting the important details. Who cares if it's "Closed". Let's make a good anime.
Now, anime studios obsess over fixing minor things and censorship, everything gets revised 100 times (eyes space, size of the face etc). While neglecting the animation and craftsmanship that truly matter.
Anime studios getting bigger and hiring zoomers is what killed anime for good.
