Personally I'd just make new episodes pulling off the original TV series/OVA and act like it never went away. It's purely episodic so you can just make more.

It piss me off that you people are never caught up with Japan, you don't even know about the new things the author is making or his new contracts with the publishers. If we get something new is going to be an anime adaption for the main series and not the spin-off that is Dirty pair

Keep the looks close enough to Yas's designs aside from making Kei distinguishable from Amuro.
