If there is a problem in the relationship it’s ALWAYS because of a misunderstanding, or one side tries to distance themselves in the belief that it’s in the best interests of the other. You don’t need to read / watch any JP romance to know roughly how it will go and what developments there are likely to be.

Also, the main girl is the most attractive — UNLESS it’s a harem, in which case the main girl will typically be the 2nd most attractive. The reason for this is that there needs to be some dramatic tension with the more attractive girl in the final arc, ie, a credible threat to the main relationship. This is NOT the case in JP love-triangles in which the other girl is always a 3rd-wheel gag / foil and never a serious competitor. Outside of harems, the main girl will always be the most attractive, best most perfect prize for the MC and there is no serious challenge to this setup. In a few cases the writer will try to pretend there is some competition (ie, White Album 2) but the narrative makes it clear, always, who the main girl is supposed to be. This is an iron-clad rule of JP shounen romances, there are no exceptions. Whenever someone posts one of these threads ALWAYS remember this law and you’ll never waste your time.
