I recommend you try to persevere even if you find the first cour a bit boring. AiPri will live and die by its relationship drama and so the first few episodes setting up the relation between the main characters are not representative of the rest of the show. Although personally for me many of these early episodes were also among my favourites.

Well, plenty of the common criticisms are pretty understandable imo. The early CG production issues, the very large cast leading to many characters being underused, not liking how they used the AD characters, etc. There's still plenty of fun episodes, great music, a strong second half with an iconic final arc, but I can understand why the aforementioned issues might turn people away.

It was an absolute mess. They fucked up the cg rendering and made it choppy as hell, the art style was a massive downgrade from AD, and the animation quality took a huge dive. The first 30 episodes are meandering and spread to thin among an already bloated cast.
On the story side of things, they didn't bring back Sonata despite her being almost essential to Kyouko's expanded backstory and development. Even worse was that they essentially carried out a character assassination of Kyouko and her rivalry with Sonata in service to building up Kintaro as a villain. Do you understand the magnitude of the show essentially saying that Kyouko's dad was secretly cheating on her behalf throughout her career as a prism star?
Even if you like the newly introduced drama and plot points, all of it is tied to characters rolled over from the previous season. The most infuriating thing about it is that the only member of the main cast that has tangential ties to the Asechi family drama is fucking Chaekyoung of all people, who, just like all of puretty except HyeIn, has almost zero story relevance. DMF really should have just been its own standalone continuity separate from AD.

KinPri definitely is the most extreme of the shows when it comes to the sheer “wtf” of the performances. Between that and it wrapping up the RL story, I still think it’s worth checking out even if you’re not a fan of >boys. It’s just two movies and a short 12 episode show, so it’s very fast to blitz through.
