I understand why you wouldn't like Taichi, kid is clumsy & emotional while not being much of a combat unit, but this doesn't apply to the other two. Koala is usefull if somewhat derpy, he makes mistakes but learns fast and does the right things once he is aware of them, he is also civil and helpful.
Kai is just having a blast, can't blame the guy for it, he is Shun but with slightly lower specs, people often forget but he is 8k points master class and the moment he stops being so easily distracted Ikoma will instantly double its offensive power.
These guys are beloved by Ashihara because they make mistakes and do things, both of these qualities are extremely valuable for his writing style. On top of that seeing idiots grow through their mistakes & experiences is another thing he does consistantly, for now this was done via Koala but I have high hopes for Taichi as well.
On that note the biggest shitter in the border is Wakamura and look the cripple cat has done with him.
