This. Battle shounen is about cool, wacky fights first, and everything else second. Toriyama's paneling and fight choreography is amazing though, and puts every other battle shounen to shame. The simple but striking designs are also always recognizable but distinct.

I mean, name one BS villain more iconic and memorable than Frieza. Dio is the only one I can think of that even comes close.

It's been almost 40 years, and Dragon Ball is still the overall peak, with only One Piece kind of approaching it. The fact that even zoomies can't stop talking about DB is evidence of how lasting and actually good it is.
