The "darkness" fruit is actually a hito hito model Davy Jones fruit.
The darkness aspect of it is basically access to Davy Jones' locker, a pocket dimension.
Through the usage of the fruit, Blackbeard can access this dimension and keep stuff there, even people, but whoever he traps he "owns".
When he wants to gain a new devil power, he feeds the fruit to one of the people he has "stored" in there, and through owning them he owns and can use the fruit power as well.

That's why he had to cover himself with a curtain when he wanted the gura gura power. He "fed" it to one of the people he has stashed away inside him and he can channel the power through that.

Davy Jones is similar to Nika, except a good of darkness and enslavement.
BB knew the true nature of the darkness fruit because he somehow got ahold of Xebec's information about it, which made him pursue it specifically to utilize its power fully.

People seem to be thinking there's going to be some logical explanation to the fruit powers when they're explicitly shown to be just zany magic. Even Vegapunk, who was supposed to explain this shit, basically said that it's just people's strong wishes manifested as power. That's pretty much it from the top scientist in the world.
And we see time and time again (now explicitly with Imu) that the powers are as close to magic as you can get.
So I don't think there's going to be any "explanation" for it other than zany cartoon logic of "sufficiently strong willpower manifests stuff".

Imu killed both Rocks and Harald. I think he probably did via possessing HKs or the elders. Oda has set up both Rocks and Harald as some of the strongest beings in the manga, having them both be killed by Imu would solidify Imus position already as the king of the world. And in classic WG fashion in Rocks case they wiped him from history and in Harald case they blamed the already easy target, Loki

Loki does not have a family in Elbaph and he's an outsider. He is looking for a family so it makes sense he joins. Even in the past his dream was to join Rocks and leave there.
Right now the only reason he's not immediately accepting Luffy's invitation is because he doesn't know Luffy and doesn't respect him. But that'll change once the fighty part kicks in and he sees Luffy go all out.
After that it's a given he'll join.

Meanwhile Hajrudin (who is already a part of the grand fleet) will become King, because it's the right thing to do. He's nice to everyone there and everyone respects him and it will also make sense thematically since he was sidelined due to his mom not being a proper giant. He'd also make a great king.

And on top of that Loki and Hajrudin have to build a bond and respect each other, which only works if both of them find their respectful places in life. Hajrudin as a king and Loki as a brawler pirate.

This is different from let's say Yamato and Carrot, who needed to stay behind and protect their faction and had obligations, despite being eager to set off with the strawhats.
In this arc Hajrudin already fulfils that role. He's going to stay behind and be the protector along with Gaban and the giants.
