The Studio that made the anime stood their ground on what they wanted the anime causing it to actually be good, save the game's sales. By now the game is actually good although it still isn't what it was promised to be and still lacks some of the mechanics shown in press and early builds.

The second season will be made by a new staff with not many credits to their names.
I would usually be scared when this kind of stuff happens but it seems like Trigger is taking advantage of this to use Cyberpunk as some sort of experimental training ground for their animators, kind of like Cloverworks' Elusive Samurai adaptation.
I'll also like to assume looking at the characters from the posters that CD Project is giving Trigger more freedom since ultimately it was their ideas that made Cyberpunk popular rather than the game itself or the ideas the westerners provided for the anime.

The story was fine but the ending really felt unsatisfying and you never really quite got the point they were getting at that "David was better than the rest but not that special" and his crashout just seemed really weird. After maine died, I just felt like the writers changed or something

Answer is simple the game CP2077 carried Edgerunners anime hard cause if the game wasn't made before and become successful (you can cry about the initial bugs but it still was one of best games ever) the anime would never be made.
