I've not read any manga since 2022 and the only anime I watched were Bleach and Mushoku Tensei.
I've always had these periods in my life when I would completely stop watching anime/reading manga for a while but it's never lasted this long.
I'm 32 now... have I actually... grown out of anime? It just feels like every other anime has been aggressively aimed at teenagers for a while now. I don't know if it's just me getting old or if the medium has changed but nothing really catches my eye anymore.
I guess I could check out older series that I never got around to but I'm not very motivated.
Any other oldfags going through something similar?

What a plebeian take, you never belonged here if you can't find anything remotely interesting because even back in the day japanese media was mostly aimed at kids, even more if you can't find manga/LNs/VNs that pique your interest you might as well be a normalfag who never had a deep dive in the culture

Nah, anime just changed drastically. It's not the same medium people fell in love with 20+ years ago. If you don't see this then you are a zoomer.

EVERYTHING has changed drastically. The world isn't the same as it was 20 years ago. Of course things are going to change to reflect that. Trends change, art changes, techniques change, technology changes. But at its core it's still the same shit. If you look for the genres you enjoy then you'll still find them.

Nine Peaks and Mr Zetton are still pretty decent though, as far as new Delinquent series go. As is Rappa - Yankee Ninpuuchou although that is just a battle shounen featuring delinquent characters that are also ninjas, but does it well so far.

can't relate. I've been watching a mix of old and new stuff since I first got into anime in the 90's and I still haven't ran out of stuff I'm keen to watch

i like to read and i still read a lot, i've just graduated from anime. i know there are good ones, but visual mediums take forever to say so little.
