Everyone likes Izutsumi. I can't think of a bigger contrarian shit take than hating on Izutsumi.

Izutsumi was part of the party in the Dungeon Meshi oneshot, fulfilling Marcille's role of getting grossed out by monster foods and weirded out by the party's zaniness. Marcille and Chilchuck were largely nonchalant about all this.

So Kui always intended for the cat to join. She was designed to be part of the party from the start.
