The series intended audience is kind of weird. The robots and wacky stunts the 5 main characters do are pretty clearly meant for young boys to think they're cool but the character designs themselves are more bishounen to appeal to girls. The actual plot of the series though is a complex political plot that kids aren't going to follow.That being said, the actual politics is not that detailed though and you're not getting anything like LoGH and you just have to accept the show for what it is whenever the narrator explains the current political landscape.

Wing starts off with all the characters being kind of insane, but then by the end of the show everyone mellows out and starts making smart and normal decisions. I think Endless Waltz is alright, but they spend a lot more time on the backstory of some of the Gundam pilots than you'd expect for something that takes place after the show they star in, and this in turn makes it feel like the actual conflict is rushed at best. If you thought people were level-headed at the end of Wing it'll bring back some of the "well why did you do that" moments of the middle part of the anime even if the characters haven't really changed. It has a couple of cool moments.

Is the point that Heero is actually a lot nicer than he lets on? There's several points where he's acting like he's about to kill one of the main characters for various reasons. Even ignoring Relena, he says that he was going to kill Duo after he was captured and says the same about the scientists) but either backs out at the last second or doesn't really seem that committed to doing it in the first place. Or is it just a dumb writing problem where they can't actually have him kill a named character when there are 20+ episodes left in the series?
