its literally in the file name
>>280681695 (OP)Uh, it's still in my ptw list.
>>280681695 (OP)I hate abstract media. I wanted to love sonny boy more than I did. There were elements I liked the animation premis and character designs and music, but itโs too abstract at times that i feel like iโm not smart enough to understand the message itโs trying to tell. If it is trying to say anything. A lot of the time the people who say they enjoy these anime feels like they don't even understand themselves and are just pretending to get it. It just sucks knowing you have average intelligence and can't enjoy something you really want
>>280681695 (OP)It filters people with good taste because it looks like shit.
>>280681695 (OP)I dunno man. I felt like it's the most normalfag friendly anime ever. If there's a show that I can recommend to a normalfag 'cinephile' faggot without having second hand embarrassment about recommending something with usual anime shenanigans like schoolgirl sexualization, brocon sisters or typical shounen power of frenship faggotry in most mainstream shounenshit, it's probably this.
>>280681695 (OP)more like the anime nobody watched
>>280681695 (OP)Bro, just watch Little Busters, watch your second anime already...
>>280682864>watch Little Bustersit's a VN
>watch your second animenot a single soul on earth has sonny boy as their first anime
>>280681695 (OP)I really enjoyed it. I didn't understand /a/'s seething over this show.
>>280683579>I didn't understand /a/'s seething over this showbecause it's a genuine piece of art.
man-children deny any and all attempt at honesty because being genuine means being vulnerable.
and, if it doesn't resonate with you at all, it's as uninteresting and, therefore, as bad as it had any potential to be otherwise.
>>280683531Sonny Boy is like one of those normalfaggot tier anime recommended to newfaggots who ask 'rec anime with no fanservice or moe durr I hate sexy women' so I'm sure it's probably some guys first anime.
I remember a thread in /tv/ asking rec for one who doesn't like 'anime tropes' and it was frequently mentioned in that thread.
>>280683579Main character decided to grow up.
>>280681695 (OP)the mangaka who did the character designs is a legend here.
This episode made people drop it
>>280682281instead of Sonny Boy assuming the viewer is too smart I found it rather to highlight how almost every other anime assumes the viewer is a fucking retard
>>280684947100% chance the girl in the OP is sexier than every waifu you've ever had, you homo
>>280685814to be fair they're completely right about the average anime viewer
It's my contender for best show in the 20's. Soundtrack, visuals, story, and characters are all top tier
would have been a great anime, if they had only told us who was the fucking sonny boy.
>>280683579majority of demographics are indians, seanigs and other brown monkeys who have difficulty picking up barely subtle subjects
>>280685798unironically, sincerely, the best single anime episode of this century. i can't believe anyone could get filtered by such kino.
>>280681695 (OP)I feel like a massive brainlet but i really didn't understand it's story at all, i just enjoyed the art and pretty colours (i used a script to upscale it to 4K, looked great on my tv)
>>280681695 (OP)I enjoyed it a lot. Just needed something a bit different than the usual seasonal shit at the time.
>>280684947>I remember a thread in /tv/go back crossboarding newfag
>>280691570idk, probably nothing. it just happened.
>>280691570idk. probably something. don't worry about it too much
It's a baseball league here in the world of Monkey Mountain,
played by the great monkeys, which started when the first ball and bat
and the rules of the game were handed down to them.
In the Monkey League, a number of great players arose
from among the nameless monkeys,
whose faces and appearances all looked the same.
They included the legendary home run king,
who batted an unprecedented, record-breaking
80 home runs in one year, Steroid Monkey;
the one who bested the god of batting, Monkey River's career batting average
by two thousandths, the miracle hitting machine, Upper Monkey;
the greatest catcher of the Bigfoot era, Mister Monkey;
later, as manager, he would go on to break the record for most league wins,
with a legendary ten-season-long streak!
Then came the golden age of the M-League.
A miracle monkey came along
and shattered those previous legends one by one--
the monster, Monkey Blue!
This maverick of the league was the only one with blue hair,
who, despite weathering ugly discrimination and crafty persecution,
triumphed over them with overwhelming talent, ultimately becoming a hero,
and a symbol of hope for the monkeys!
Although a rookie, Blue put the brakes to the king, Steroid Monkey!
Breaking his bat as well as his heart, Blue drove him to retirement.
Then, with his mighty pitching arm,
Blue led the underdog team Monkey and Club to victory,
preventing Bigfoot's championship streak from reaching 11.
The public accepted this new hair color,
and there was no doubt in anybody's mind
that the era of Monkey Blue had begun! But then...
...that great tragedy, when a near-perfect game was foiled,
and a monkey was killed, took place!
>>280685798I really don't understand why anyone dropped the show because of that.
>>280686057it's the last tv anime kino
nothing else is quite like it in recent times even if people tend to overrate it
there are some other interesting originals but they fall short on a technical level, or they had to compromise to sell their anime, and son
