What the FUCK is WRONG with this fucking still?
I've seen fucking fan animations with better stills.
Why is its trailer so much more inferior to the Chainsaw Man movie trailer when Ufotable supposedly has a better schedule?
Don't get me wrong: I fucking HATE Chainsaw Man. I'm talking purely from an animation point of view.

You've GOT to be kidding me. The held that fucking disgusting Zenitsu still for 2.5 FUCKING SECONDS (roughly)!
Meanwhile, the Chainsaw Man movie trailer had THIS highly detailed cut ANIMATED ON FUCKING ONES (24 unique frames per second)!
Demon Slayer in its entirety doesn't have a SINGLE CUT animated on ones. Even animation on twos is pretty rare for Demon Slayer.
Meanwhile, the Chainsaw Man trailer alone has MULTIPLE, HIGHLY detailed cuts animated on ones!

Sounds like the trilogy is the end and there wont be a Muzan movie
Damn, I assumed each UM would get a movie and then the Muzan fight would be the final fourth non-IF movie.
Ah well. I should have remembered how small Douma's fight was in the manga.

I wish they had done something else, but considering this movie koku is basically getting 2 hours to himself and his drama.
And if it has the same effort into it as Akaza vs Giyuu then it's going to be the sex to end all sex.
Movie three will probably just be countdown to sunrise.

Remember nerds. One Piece still got a Hollywood live-action, it got the red carpet treatment while Demon Slayer desperately yearns for Hollywood's. That's why they tried to submit Mugen Train into the Oscars and were rejected on record time.
>"W-Why would you want a shitty live-action anyway?"
Because Hollywood live-action means you graduated from otaku niche into full-blown global phenomenon. That's why, you mouth-breathing reaction clip consumers. I'd be clear with you fags.
>Not all anime gets a live-action.
>VERY few get one with hundreds of millions in backing.
>Almost none get one where the original creator has executive power.
>And ONE, One Piece, got all of that and crushed it.
Hollywood live-action = mainstream cultural arrival. It means Western executives, the greediest, most soulless lords of capital, looked at your story and said:
>"This is worth hundreds of millions. This can dominate TV. This has universal appeal."
Meanwhile, Demon Slayer?
>Ufotable carried it.
>Aniplex pathetically begged the Academy to give Mugen Train an Oscar.
>They were fucking laughed out of the building.
>No nomination.
>No shortlist.
>No buzz.
>Nothing.
Because outside of its anime hype, Demon Slayer isn't shit to the wider world. It's an emotionally manipulative, formulaic shounen with no staying power once the glitter wears off. Demon Slayer cannot exist without anime and it's nothing without the Ufotable miracle machine. The manga is mid, the writing is paper-thin, the pacing is garbage, and the characters don't carry themselves without music, voice acting, and sakuga.

One Piece sells less than half of the volumes printed. 500M printed = 250M sold.
Meanwhile Kimetsu no Yaiba is always out of stock in most stores. 220M printed = 200M sold.
Kimetsu no Yaiba almost has as many volumes sold as One Piece despite having less than one fifth of its volume count.

Still got a live-action movie backed by Hollywood with MILLIONS of dollars at play and Hollywood doesn't fuck around with money. They don't dump $200 million dollars into franchise corpses, they bet heavy on legacy IPs with global reach and decades of cultural capital.

You really think any studio would drop $25M per episode, more than The Mandalorian, GoT, The Witcher, Stranger Things, on a series no one gives a fuck about anymore? Demon Slayer can't even get greenlit for a Western adaptation, because it has no legs without its anime. It's just a sword boy crying about his sister in a box in a sea of other shonen. There's nothing unique to sell once the anime polish is gone.

IF you do get a live-action, expect a shitty, low-budget Japanese TV drama with wooden dialogue, cringe-level overacting, idol-tier casting, and visual effects powered by Microsoft Paint. You ever watch a Japanese live-action adaptation? Shit feels like high school theater with $200 and a fog machine. There's zero scale, no international weight and no vision.

Ufotable was a fluke lightning strike. You cannot replicate that energy outside of that studio. And no one wants to try because the source material isn't strong enough without visual cocaine to carry itself.

If it is really missing then it is potential material for an eventual TV Cut extra scene, like how it happened with the Mugen Train when it got converted into its tv edition, some scenes were expanded, or outright given, the inner consciousness world Enmu's pawns invaded were expanded in particular, adapting panels not previously shown in the movie version.

Why the hell are people so eager to pirate it?
I saw it today in cinema in Tokyo, and I can say for sure โ€” this movie is built for the theatrical experience.
You need to see it in a cinema, at least for your first watch.
Canโ€™t you people seriously just wait only two months?

It's perfectly reasonable. Literally all Fate adaptations expect you to know the source material to fully understand what's going on. Shounenslop on the other hand has literally no barrier of entry which is why especially third worlders love it.

This movie is built to give you a full 100% experience in the theater.
If youโ€™ve got a massive screen at home, top-tier audio setup, and a pristine rip of the film โ€” fine, maybe that works for you.
(Still nowhere near a real theater experience, though.)
But burning your first watch on some low-res, shaky cam pirate version on a tiny screen? Thatโ€™s just a damn waste.

Unless you have a dedicated man cave with a 120 inches MiniLED tv adorned with a twenty four speakers (18.2.4) home theater setup, then the basic advantage that a theater possesses of watching stuff on a giant screen won't ever completely die out, it might become a niche experience.

However, if the Micro LED technology for people building their own 200 inches screens at home becomes cheaper a few decades from now on then theaters might actually be on their way out.

DKT fight lasted all of a few pages in the manga, and nothing consequential happens in terms of deaths. Even Muzan's fight is kind of lame, bro just turns into a baby and seethes to death. That's the premise of the series since the likes of Muichiro and Gyomei were introduced as supremelly gifted genetic superhumans.

KnY's Japan is closer to the world of early Dragon Ball, where people like Mutenroshi and TaoPaiPai exist, than real life Japan.

The demon's ultimate advantage was never supposed to be raw stats (though they excell in that regard as well), but hax and limitless regen.

Most humans are no match at all with demons, but there are a handful of genetically gifted superhumans who have msystically-inherited superpowers who are stronger than most demons, and who are only a little less strong than the very top demons. The problem is that this is NEVER, EVER indicated in the narrative; instead, the narrative tells us OVER AND OVER AND OVER how superior demons are in combat, even when that flies in the face of the facts throughout almost the entire manga.

Man oh man, my box office predictions are aren't just looking good so far. Theyโ€™re prophetic. If the movie crashes and burns by Week 3 when Jurassic World, I'm fucking Nostradamus. The Japanese are now definitely saying this movie won't make Mugen Train numbers, not even close and that its screenings WILL be cut (even the Japanese say it's too long and theaters HATE long movies). If it holds semi-okay and caps under Mugen Train, I'm still right on money. Either way?

I already won the box office discourse war.

Oh really? Then why were there fags posting "ยฅ40B guaranteed," "$600M+ global," and "itโ€™ll crush Mugen Train in 3 weeks" just last month? Don't play revisionist historian when the thread archives exist and we all saw the hopium buffet you clowns were feasting on.

That statement is pure goalpost yanking. Now that reality is setting in and even Japanese viewers are saying it'll taper hard, you're rewriting the hype history like nothing happened. Sorry, but you don't get to pretend you were reasonable after weeks of screeching "TOP 3 GLOBAL ANIME EVER!"
>>280727802
Nope. I forecasted fatigue, frontload, runtime constraints, and market competition. I wasn't married to ยฅ15B or ยฅ25B, I was mapping probability ranges based on indicators: inflation, weaker yen, compressed runs, and fewer general audiences. And right now, all signs point to a strong open and sharp decline. Mugen Train had monstrous legs. Infinity Castle is puffing smoke on Day 3.

Even if it finishes at ยฅ30B (won't happen), that's:
>Nowhere near Mugen Trainโ€™s ยฅ40.4B
>Below "breakthrough cultural event" status.
>Right in the "successful but not historic" zone
I'm in the right lane. And you're slamming the panic button because you know it too.

If I were to guess for this movie's box office, it would be:
>Best-case scenario for international (non-Japan):
US: $15-20M (September is a dump month)
France/South Korea/Taiwan/Hong Kong: $30-40M combined (Taiwan does all the heavy-lifting, Mugen Train made $20M followed by South Korea where it made $15M while in Hong Kong it made $4M amd France it made $6M)
All other countries (LATAM, EU, SEA): ~$20M tops
That's a maximum of $100-110M internationally.
>Actual likely total worldwide:
$150-170M, maybe around $200M tops. $70-90M (or $100M) from Japan. $80-110M international.

Those were your predictions before reality dawned upon you.

And who can forget gems in that same thread such as
>Also, Superman drops one week before Infinity Castle which is really bad for DS.
>Btw, DS isn't on 4DX. Superman is, and IMAX Japan LOVES a visually good film with action.
And
>something something two-three shows per day, tops.

So now don't go coping about how this were just estimations or whatever because THESE are your predictions, as a matter of fact. And if they fail, they fail.

Wrong. My stance wasn't a hard ceiling, it was a projection based on trend signals and probability. I was saying things like:
>It likely won't have Mugen Train legs
>Expect strong frontload but weaker general audience traction
>ยฅ15-20B is plausible, higher needs miracle legs
>$200M global is a reasonable ceiling unless international blows up
That's not a goalpost, that's forecasting with data, not dreams. A ceiling is not a cap. It's a "likely max based on what we know." That's how actual analysts speak, not hypebeasts screaming "600 MILLION LOCKED IN!"
What I didn't do was shout guarantees like:
>It'll flop
>It wonโ€™t even reach ยฅ10B
>It canโ€™t possibly beat Mugen Train Day 1
Meanwhile you and others were promising ยฅ40B and worldwide box office domination like it was already in the bank. But the actual situation right now?
>ยฅ3.6B after 2 days = strong, but frontloaded
>Weekend boost came from maxed formats + holiday positioning, not organic legs
>Sunday numbers already showed signs of softening
>Yahoo Japan Nd Japanese box office blogs are all saying the legs probably won't match Mugen Train
ยฅ30B is the optimistic ceiling now. ยฅ15-20B is more realistic. $200M global is the ballpark. I'm dead on so far.

You do realize the optimistic ceiling you are talking about, that analysts are talking about, is JAPAN-ONLY, right? They are talking about 300 billion yen in JAPAN.
The lowest prediction right now is at the very least 250 billion IN JAPAN, BEFORE INTERNATIONAL.
This is looking like a 300-350 million dollar movie when all is said and done, and only because the yen is weaker otherwise you are looking at an easy 400 million movie.

Juxtaposing the two is literally the greatest demonstration of why KnY's strengths aren't solely due to animation. HF is a great route and yet its adaptation blows because like 80% of the internal depth of the VN is excluded due to the lack of internal monologue.
Kimetsu has the emotional beats and a visual style that sparks the imagination and the atmosphere required to allow Ufotable to go haywire with visuals all without losing a sense of purpose.
The anime is only as good as its source material allows it to be, and KnY allows it to be the best there is. Thank goodness we have Ufotable to fulfill that allowance.

>you started moving goalposts the moment the movie started doing better than you expected.
Nope. My entire framework was built around conditional forecasting, I always said things like "if legs hold," "if burnout hits," "if general audience traction isn't strong." I did not say "it'll make only $120M worldwide and die." I gave a spread. What you're doing is classic bad faith arguing: ignoring my nuances so you can pretend my "$200M cap" was a hard law handed down from Mount Sinai.
>You said so yourself, as the best case scenario, so at least don't backtrack.
That was my best-case scenario and guess what? That still hasn't been proven wrong. The film is barely past 2 days. The only thing we've seen is the fan dump phase. There's zero data yet to confirm ยฅ30B+ legs, or overseas explosions. You're acting like hitting Day 2 sales means I owe you a retraction on my Day 60 projections. That's clown logic. I'm not backtracking, I'm updating forecasts based on incoming data, like any sane analyst does. That's not moving goalposts. That's called reacting to market conditions, not living in delusional fantasyland.
>In your dreams, sunday is looking huge for it
And this is where you expose yourself that you don't understand the industry at all. You're celebrating inflated Saturday numbers as if they're signs of long-term strength. But the reality is: holiday-loaded, IMAX-stuffed, pre-sale-packed weekends are designed to frontload box office. A normal movie builds its weekend gradually. This movie spiked Friday and Saturday, then dipped Sunday. That's classic burnout trajectory. Also, if Saturday "couldnโ€™t hold more people," that's not a flex. Thatโ€™s an exhaustion of demand. Capacity saturation = not a sign of growth. It's a sign of a ceiling.

He has only been a demon for months at best, and he willingly became a demon while begging for mercy. Not much time to forget anything. Demons who forget their past lives are often the ones who have lived for a long time and became demons out of tragic circumstances.

Old fossils like Kokushibo only seem to perfectly remember their past at first glance, but even he claimed to have forgotten the faces of his entire family, and when Yoriichi's flashback hits it is shown Kokushibo remembers several aspects of his past slightly wrong, pretty much anything concerning how his dynamic with Yoriichi was.

>They are talking about 300 billion yen in JAPAN.
Lolno. No one credible said this and this is the easiest debunk of all. Mugen Train, the highest-grossing film in Japanโ€™s history, made ~ยฅ40.4 billion. You're either mistaking million (ๅ„„) for billion or just straight up hallucinating. If you're suggesting ยฅ300 billion, that's literally 7.5ร— Mugen Train. That's like saying "This new Marvel movie will beat Endgame by $15 billion!"

You don't know the difference between ๅ„„ and ๅƒๅ„„. That alone should disqualify you from any serious conversation.
>The lowest prediction right now is at the very least 250 billion IN JAPAN, BEFORE INTERNATIONAL.
This is either a translation error (and you meant ยฅ25B), or you're fully cracked and drinking paint. But since you're comparing my realistic ยฅ15-20B estimate to what you're calling โ€œlow,โ€ then yeah, you're legit thinking ยฅ250B, which again is nonsense. No Japanese film has ever made anywhere remotely close to that. That's 10x Your Name. I donโ€™t need to counter this, I just need to point at it and laugh.
>This is looking like a 300-350 million dollar movie when all is said and done
I already won the argument and you don't even see it, lmao. I'd run numbers based on current facts.
>Realistic scenario
Japan: Letโ€™s say it finishes with ยฅ15-20B = ~$100-$135M
International (non-Japan): Maybe ~$100M (being generous)
Total: $200-235M worldwide tops.
It might be a top-earning anime movie this year, but:
>It's not even sniffing Mugen Train in yen or USD
>It's not remotely a phenomenon anymore
>It's showing heavy frontload, saturation, and won't have the yearlong legs Mugen Train had
Even strong legs won't save it from being a fan-driven box office burst, not a cultural juggernaut.

Yeah. Do that. Please. Everyone hold onto it. Because if Sunday comes in below Saturday, even with all the turbo-charged IMAX and holiday positioning, I've already got my answer. Lmao. You'e banking on Sunday in Japan being even higher than Saturday, which isn't impossible, but very rare and would actually prove my point more than yours if it underdelivers.

Saturday was literally maxed out. If Sunday's not higher, it means the fan rush peaked already. If it is higher, cool that still doesn't prove legs. It proves holiday weekend boost and saturation. What happens next week when seats shrink and showtimes go down? That's when the cliff begins.

Either way, mt frontload prediction holds up. You're just clinging to day-by-day spikes as if it's the whole war, not just a skirmish.

It's simple.
This "person" is what you call an attention parasite. You want to know why people still bother talking to him? Because it's not exactly the same handful of people. Through the years, as the userbase of these threads rotate, there will always be someone new, who doesn't know who he is, who will react on instinct by what they think is just your run-of-the-mill forum trashtalk, and engage with him, naively thinking "oh, that's what the internet is for anyways".
These are fresh victims that don't know they are feeding the resident schizo who has been at this for years. Our parasite, of course, understands this: he knows there will always been someone on 4chan or Reddit who doesn't know the drill yet, and that he will always be able to get some form of attention if he keeps poking.
I haven't directly addressed the guy in years, but someone else always will.
If these threads are a house, he is part of the furniture. And when you have a strange-looking chair on your living room, new visitors are always gonna react to it.

Of course Miyazaki doesn't care. He's a fucking auteur, lol. When critics and artists talk about authorship, they're talking about a creator's voice, the sense that a work is uniquely born of one person's obsessions, traumas, philosophies, and style. NGE, especially in its early form, bleeds Anno's psyche: his depression, suicidal tendencies, psychosexual tension, and societal angst. Miyazaki operates from a deeply personal worldview shaped by pacifism, nature, and humanist ideals. His work carries fingerprints of soul. Even Satoshi Kon, Mamoru Oshii, and Isao Takahata have distinct creative DNA that runs through every frame.

Demon Slayer, on the other hand is just a productized shonen. It's a buffet of tropes and cliches served with beautiful animation, but at its core, it has no unique voice. No deeper thesis about the world, no risks taken, no unique cinematic language. Just a perfectly engineered, corporate-approved product. That's why Miyazaki respects NGE and he will never respect Demon Slayer. That's also why Boy and the Heron was a confusing, deeply personal fever dream of war, grief, and death that dared you to decode it. That's why the Oscars gave him another statue. Because even if they didn't fully understand it (I also don't), they knew he meant every frame.

You think Miyazaki's gonna waste his time on Demon Slayer? A series where the deepest philosophical question is "Can I cry harder while slicing this demon?" No. He's out here pondering mortality and environmental collapse while the rest of the country is clapping for Nezuko shrinking into a box.

Wani has plenty of ideas that her artistic skills are not able to convey properly. From the scope of the Infinity Castle itself to the brutal blink-and-you-die pace some of these fights reach.
Muzan is said to be so fast that even Gyomei, who was able to keep up with Koku to a certain extent, complains that he can't even attack while being assisted by 4 other Pillars. He's only able to go on the offense when Kanao, Zenitsu and Inosuke show up, which means he needed 7 other people engaging Muzan in order to find an opening. That sounds cool and all, but these are only words. Gotouge is not able to convey that blinding speed in the manga. Now imagine the chaos UFO will create with rotating camerawork, blitzing tentacles and mini-tornadoes blowing shit up everywhere.

7th form was not even a top 3 Zenitsu cut.

1st Thunderclap against Tongue Demon? Better.
Stepping on the spiderweb to jump higher and kill the Spider Brother? Better.
Godspeed against Daki? Much, much better.

Honestly, the movie cut only beats his Thunderclap in Mugen Train and the one he used against the Worm Belt.

I was surprised they used such a meh storyboard.

Plenty of scenes in the Kaigaku fight were better/more creative.

Way too slow for a technique meant to be his fastest yet. Godspeed looks faster.
Heck, Shinobu's last attack looked way faster.

But seriously, I dropped the show about 6 eps in for some reason (it was a little boring, but not that bad compared to other shounen of this calibre. In fact it's probably better than Bleach and is near SnK).
But I ALWAYS am drawn to Muzan's design. Both. Male and Female. Both sexes.

What is it about this character design that is so hot?
Muzan starts to feel almost omnipotent and the androgyny makes Muzan super creepy but also super seductive.

This is just projection. I've consistently provided reasoned forecasts. Ranges, trends, qualifiers. My stance wasn't "I win no matter what," it was:
>Strong frontload? Check.
>Less general audience traction than Mugen Train? Check.
>Not replicating Mugen Trainโ€™s unicorn legs? Double check.
>Inflated by holiday placement + premium formats? Confirmed.
>No ยฅ40B miracle repeat? Reality incoming.
My argument has evolved as the data evolves, which is what actual forecasting looks like. You're just crying because my predictions were accurate enough to survive contact with reality while yours were wishful thinking wrapped in fanboy delusion.
>>280730770
This is the kind of kindergarten-level jab people throw when they have no arguments left. You're out of box office points, so now it's just playground-tier "Leddit bad" name-calling. Lame. What next? "You breathe air and I donโ€™t, therefore I win"? For the record, I don't like Reddit.
>>280731030
This whole section is projection, cope, and full meltdown. When someone writes a monologue about how they "never engage with him" while engaging with him, for multiple posts, with multiple paragraphs: he broke them. Bro, you're calling me a "chair." A freaking chair. That's not an insult, that's an existential crisis dressed up as a roast, rofl. Also, if I'm just furniture why are you still talking to the furniture? Because what you actually can't handle is this: I called the frontload. I called the oversaturation. I called the falloff risk. I called that it won't have Mugen Train legs. I called the inflated Day 1 from national holiday and max formats. I'm matching current analyst sentiment in both Japan and Western box office circles. I even explained how being strong and still not repeating a cultural phenomenon are not mutually exclusive ideas. I'm spiraling because I was never seething, I was just early.

You're not debating me. You're processing a loss. And frankly, it's beautiful.

once the normalfags locked onto it, demon slayer stopped being just a show amd became a national bonding ritual. the same way people watched the same NHK dramas or morning variety shows, demon slayer became the safe thing everyone could enjoy without thinking too hard
but if this exact same anime came out in the pre social media generation, made with the technology available at that time, nobody would give a shit about it and it would get a worse treatment than Big 3

And the most important thing, Douma power is kinda a hard counter to Akaza. He can't sense ice, he can't sense when the ice clone attack (cause there no killing intent) and he can't do shit if he can't get close.

maybe if there was more of an after effect and shockwave after the dragon disappears breaking some of the surroundings
to show the force that the attack put off

I imagine that the reporter just start asking him questions while he was doing his chore. Like anyone would be mad when people bother them.

The one nitpick I have is that Giyuu's face when in the bottom left panel seems like he's tearing up but in the movie he seems angry. Greatly prefer Wani's panel to the shot in the movie

Also asking him how he feels about another film beating his film in revenue is kind of a shitty question to ask someone while they are doing chores. Correct me if Im wrong but was Miyazaki ever a dude that gave a fuck about how much money his films made?

He clearly never care about any of that. From what I heard about the "interview", it's likely that it was some tabloid trying to get a reaction out of him.

not just that but wani has a knack for knowing exactly when to debut something for the maximum emotional impact
until the fight with akaza we don't see giyuu struggle even once. seeing him going all out for the first time compounds with the feeling of wanting to see akaza defeated
so when ufotable goes all out animating the fight the emotion of the moment that was already there gets hiked up to the next level
if the writing was bad and didn't lend itself well to expansion, all the tax evasion in the world couldn't make the fight good. but thankfully the series is both well-written and incredibly well-adapted
