Are you insane? Ranma 1/2 is literally Rumikos biggest hit in Japan to date, which is saying something. It was close to Dragon Ball level of popularity, when it was airing.

When I marathoned the old series a couple years ago it made me boomer the fuck out on how stale and uninteresting most anime has become through the years. And I did not want to boomer out. It's possible that every romcom/SoL anime made since 199X has just been copying shit that was pioneered by Takahashi Rumiko 40 years ago.
