I wish we could look back at this section of the story and say the vampires were a great addition to the manga and they expanded the lore in a way that it made sense, but they didn't, no explanation or motives, all of them get offscreened by Izumi who then dies to the leader who proceeds to become irrelevant in the rest of the story. A giant waste of time and potential, but they look cool I guess.
